Are you searching for Enlightenment or Complete Spiritual Awakening? In this comprehensive guide, I’ll share the full download of how to achieve Enlightenment – a path that has worked for me, for my students, and can work for you too.
This guide offers a multi-dimensional approach to Enlightenment, suitable for everyone from complete beginners who have just started meditating to those who have been on the path for years or have already experienced spiritual realizations.
What is Enlightenment?
Enlightenment is not something elusive or distant – it’s who you are at your core. It’s the realization of your True Nature, and it’s absolutely possible for you to experience it. You don’t need to meditate in a mountain cave for decades; I’m simply going to help you uncover what’s already present within you.
I’m Ra Netjer, and I found my own Enlightenment after going through a difficult Spiritual Awakening and Dark Night of the Soul. There was a time when I was in the depths of darkness, confusion, and meaninglessness – when I didn’t want to live anymore. I wish I had the clarity and understanding I’m about to share with you.
What I teach is based on ancient principles that have been practiced for thousands of years and remain just as applicable today when approached correctly. Although these particular principles come from Buddhism, they transcend all paths and religions – they’re so universal that they apply even if you’re an atheist!
So, take a deep breath, relax, and approach this teaching with an open mind and heart as I share from my deepest experience…
The Three Jewels: The Path to Enlightenment
In Buddhism, there’s a beautiful teaching expressed in Sanskrit:
बुद्धं शरणं गच्छामि, धर्मं शरणं गच्छामि, संघं शरणं गच्छामि
Buddham sharanam gacchāmi Dharmam sharanam gacchāmi Sangham sharanam gacchāmi
Many interpret this superficially as surrendering to the Buddha, following the teachings of the Buddha Dharma, (In terms of following Buddhism religiously) and joining a Sangha (Spiritual community). But this is just the surface level. Let’s dive into the profound essence of these three principles, which together form a complete path to Enlightenment and its integration.
The First Jewel: Buddham Sharanam Gacchāmi
Most people think this refers to taking refuge in Gautama Buddha, the prince who gave up his kingdom to seek Enlightenment. But at its deepest level, it means surrendering to your own awakened awareness – your true enlightened nature.
It means letting go of everything else that obstructs the seeing of your true nature – all the things your mind grasps onto, all desires and aversions, all misunderstandings – to surrender to the core of who you are! This is a subtle, nuanced experiential realization of truth that goes beyond action.
As Ramana Maharshi, the South Indian saint in whose lineage I had my first awakenings, simply put it: “Chumma Iru” – simply be. These seemingly simple words carry profound meaning: surrender to your true nature, Be As You Are.
For most people, this may be difficult to understand or practice directly. So the external way to approach this principle is to find, learn from, and be mentored by an enlightened teacher. An enlightened teacher serves as a mirror to your awareness, showing you who you are by shining that light themselves.
In my own journey, this was invaluable. My Enlightenment experience happened with the help of an enlightened teacher who helped me see my true nature. After seeing my teacher’s enlightened nature, I decided to follow and learn from them. I surrendered my doubts, fears, and ideas, saying, “I’m open. I want to learn.”
There was a particular moment during a dinner with my teacher and other students when everyone was speaking German (my teacher’s native language) while I desperately wanted to interact. Feeling suddenly cut off, I emotionally blurted out, “I don’t want to be separate from you anymore!”
What was really happening was deeper – I didn’t want to feel separate from my own self, my higher self, which I had externalized in the form of my teacher. My teacher recognized this and helped me look inward, asking, “Look within, are you really separate from me?”
When I did, I realized my oneness with my teacher, whom I saw as the “Buddha” guiding me. This was my first step into Enlightenment – the realization of my oneness with all that is. Without a doubt, I experienced that I and God, I and the universe, I and reality are not separate.
Practical Application: Find an enlightened teacher who can show you that you are also enlightenment embodied! A true enlightened teacher helps you see your Enlightenment and makes you independent.
Once you see your Enlightenment externally and realize it, you’ll progress to seeing your own Enlightenment. Then you’ll start seeing that Buddha nature in everything, with no separation. This integration takes time as the light naturally spreads through your being.
It’s important to remain humble and continue learning, even after high, powerful experiences. The spiritual ego can make you think you know everything and don’t need help anymore, but this blocks true Enlightenment and integration. I continued learning from my first teacher for years, and then found another teacher who took me even further. Be an eternal student of Enlightenment!
The Second Jewel: Dharmam Sharanam Gacchāmi
From surrendering to the enlightened one, we progress naturally to surrendering to the Dharma. The word “Dharma” has deep esoteric meanings at many levels.
The truest Dharma cannot even be put into words. It is alive, full – yet empty, and so vast that it’s unlimited. It cannot be grasped by concepts, which are always dualistic, while the Dharma is beyond duality.
Many think of Dharma as following scriptures, rules, and precepts – which can be helpful for beginners. But eventually, you’ll discover the limitations of these fixed teachings because life is a flow. You’ll encounter contradictions and situations where the rules don’t apply.
The true Dharma is not separate from your higher self – it is Enlightenment itself, it is the light. But to make it practical, we can look at it in different ways:
If you’re following an enlightened teacher, the Dharma is to follow their directives. An enlightened teacher can see where you are and give you personalized guidance. It’s like having Google Maps on your phone, guiding your every turn, versus having the printed world map with no idea where you are.
An enlightened teacher can sense what’s happening in your mind and help you overcome specific obstacles. Instead of giving general answers, they provide what’s relevant to you, even if it contradicts general teachings. For example, if there’s a “landslide” on your path that the teacher knows about but you don’t, they might direct you to take a different route to Enlightenment.
Beyond words and concepts, an enlightened teacher can transmit awareness directly. This “energetically supported teaching” or “transmission teaching” conveys what cannot be put into words. Because we are all one, even across time and space, this energy can be conveyed through our connection.
This is how my own Enlightenment happened – through what was conveyed beyond the words during meditation with my teachers. I’ve been able to do this for my students as well, helping them break through their blocks and experience states of awareness they couldn’t access before.
Another aspect of the “Dharma” jewel here, is the ability to get exposed to these transmission teachings again and again. What I received from my second teacher, (who was a Buddhist Mysticism teacher and is retired now) was a body of work that I could revise upon, revisit, and repeat so many times when needed. So that I could get deeper downloads of the teachings.
And this is what I do for my students as well. I have a library of transmission teachings that they can get repeated exposure of light through, which really helps in this age of information overload, where if something is not repeated enough, because of the overload of stimulation, it is easy to get lost.
As you internalize the Dharma, following it becomes natural – it’s no longer something you do, but something you are. Your actions take care of themselves.
The Third Jewel: Sangham Sharanam Gacchāmi
The third pillar is surrendering to the Sangha, which on the surface means a community of awakening beings who are following the path alongside you. But a deeper understanding of this is the key to integrating your Enlightenment.
When Buddha was asked which of the three jewels was the greatest, he answered, “It is the Sangha,” because it can lead you all the way into the deepest Enlightenment.
The profound meaning of this is that, in truth, there is nobody else. There is only God, only you. There’s no higher self, lower self, other people. There’s no teacher, no student – only you. Asangoham!
But as you move toward that place of oneness without separation, you must understand that you’re a multi-dimensional being with many aspects within you. If you observe your mind, you’ll notice different voices, opinions, and thoughts. Some aspects are angry, some have desires, some are fearful, some are traumatized, and some are spiritually happy, loving and content.
This internal community is reflected externally in a Sangha. As you learn from others and help others in a Sangha, the same is happening within you – your enlightened aspect is helping your other aspects see the light.
In a Sangha, you walk the path with other students, supporting each other in the journey. When you all have the same intention to become enlightened, there’s an opportunity to see each other as reflections of the light. Whether you’re ahead of others on the path or they’re ahead of you doesn’t matter – the interaction becomes “Sat-sang”, companionship with the Truth.
The Sangha especially helps during difficult times. When you struggle, others who’ve been through similar experiences can support you, showing you that it’s just a temporary phase. You realize you’re not alone in this journey and can feel truly heard, seen, and loved for who you are.
Regular society often doesn’t understand what an awakening being experiences as part of the process. During my spiritual journey, despite being socially adept (extroverted and generally good with people) as an actor and photographer, I felt deeply alone. Life felt meaningless and I didn’t want to live anymore. My closest friends and family couldn’t understand, but others on the same path could.
As your external Sangha work continues, internally your enlightened aspect spreads light to your shadowed, hurt, or fragmented aspects. By lovingly, patiently, compassionately accepting these aspects back into your light, your being becomes unified. This is how Enlightenment deepens continuously, making the journey beautiful even after initial awakening.
